Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be a senior in high school applying for admission to a recognized university music program or a private performing arts conservatory music program in 2025.
Selection Criteria
Submit a 500 word statement clearly communicating the depth of commitment to a career in music with a focused plan toward career goals. Attach supporting documents of musical achievements and experience including letters of reference. See application form for details.
Timeline: APPLICATION DEADLINE IS April 30, 2025
By May 15, 2025, all selected candidates will be invited to participate in a juried public audition scheduled after May 15. This will be the determining factor in selection of the scholarship winner. The music piece selected for the audition should be of sufficient complexity to showcase technical and interpretative skills.
Selection Process
Audition jurists, professional teachers and/or professional performers selected by the scholarship committee, will determine the winner by simple majority vote.
The winning performer will receive $3,500 toward tuition and books for their first year in a university music program.
In addition, attendees at the public audition will be invited to choose their preferred competitor for the People’s Choice Award. This winner will be awarded $250 for university expenses.
The OCCS Music Scholarship is dedicated to fostering the future of all forms of music by supporting mid-island aspiring musicians.
This annual scholarship of $3,500 will awarded to senior high school students who have applied for admission to a recognized university music program or a private performing arts conservatory music program.
