Calvin Dyck
Oceanside Classical Concerts Society was pleased to welcome Calvin Dyck as its new Artistic Director in 2022. He assumed the role after David Douglas stepped down following seven successful seasons with the society. David programmed some of the most noteworthy concerts ever performed in Oceanside, including the upcoming 2022-2023 season. We are very grateful to David and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Calvin Dyck is in his 23rd season as concertmaster for the Vancouver Island Symphony and is the director of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra. He holds a doctor of musical arts from the University of Southern California in violin performance, with minors in conducting, music education and music history.
He has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for service to the community and an honorary doctor of humanities by Trinity Western University.
Dyck will perform in the fifth concert of the 2022-23 season, when the Vancouver Island Symphony presents ‘The Pictures Project’.
