Formed in 2015 at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, the Viano String Quartet have received high acclaim for their ‘huge range of dynamics, massive sound and spontaneity.’ The Viano String Quartet have garnered top awards – First Prize at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition; highest prizes at the Osaka and Wigmore Hall International Chamber Music Competitions (they also received the Haydn Prize and the Sidney Griller Award).
The Viano String Quartet have performed in world class venues with world class musicians – Wigmore Hall; Segerstrom Center for the Arts; SOKA Performing Arts Center, and the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts. They have shared the stage with pianists Ax an Elisso Virsaladze; violist Paul Coletti, and violinist Martin Beaver. The 2019-2020 season saw the Viano String Quartet playing debut performances on three continents, in the cities of Beijing, Brussels, New York City and Vancouver. They are Ensemble-in-Residence at the Colburn Conservatory of Music (where they formed in 2015), Los Angeles, through the 2020-2021 season.
